As a mother and daughter combo, we decided to bring Family Aquatics to life after many years of Lorna competitively swimming in England in the early 2000’s and having her first son in 2016, we wanted to make a safe and fun space for families to bring their children to learn how to swim.
As we live in a society that revolves around water we believe that every child has the right to learn about water safety and know how to save themselves if they ever find themselves in trouble around water.
Family Aquatics is a family owned and operated business that was established in 2020, bringing over 40 years of combined experience throughout our team.
Our swim school is operated and built on the foundations of our core family values. We pride ourselves in providing a safe, fun and friendly environment for children and families with the inclusion of a play area, parents room, mini cafe with coffee and drinks, and of course, our Learn-to-Swim Program.
Our team of professional swimming and safety instructors are committed to helping people of all ages learn how to swim in a safe and friendly environment. We are lucky to have a diverse range of qualifications throughout our team, allowing us to cater from the age of three months old all the way through to adults in their first swimming lesson.
During your time at Family Aquatics, your child will learn a variety of skills essential to their development of gross motor, fine motor and cognitive skills. We pride ourselves in teaching children crucial water safety skills and the importance of being safe around water.
We are open six days a week Monday – Saturday offering lessons in the mornings and afternoons. Our mineral pool is heated to a minimum of 32 degrees all year round which allows us to be open for the duration of winter.
Here at Family Aquatics, we have 12 phases of lessons which are determined by your child’s individual skills and confidence. Each class has their own instructor to child ratio, and we thrive on giving our families the most from each lesson.
We have constructed our Learn-to-Swim Program on the principal teachings of Laurie Lawrence. We are committed to teaching our amazing community on how to become safer and more confident in and around water. Our Learn-to-Swim Program allows us to cater to all ages and abilities offering a level of support that will exceed your expectations. We are committed to making our swimming lessons safe, age appropriate and a comfortable experience for both families, children and adult swimmers.
Our goal is to lead your child to success and flourish towards progressing through our phases. We use positive reinforcement and a range of fun activities as well as recognition rewards to motivate your child.
We offer small class sizes committed to giving the most out of each lesson. This ensures that your child receives a more personalised experience.
We also offer private and semi-private lessons if preferred.
Great family swim centre! Instructors are friendly, informative and have made us feel safe having our daughter in the pool. Fees are reasonable, added bonus of towel, bag and swimming cap on joining and best part is all indoors and heated pool. So glad this is where oir daughter gets to do her lessons each week.
Thanks for stopping by! We’re here to help, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Hi Everyone
My name is Courtney
I recently became a Learn to Swim instructor in April last year 2023 with Family Aquatics. After signing my daughter up to swimming lessons, each week at her lesson, I took on board all instruction and knowledge on how to help her improve. This caught Lorna’s eye and asked if I thought about becoming an instructor as she thought I had the potential to help others like she helped me.
I used to work in childcare for many years before I had my daughter and I thoroughly enjoy working and giving the gift of education to children and watching them thrive in different areas of life.
I am both Teacher and Water Safety and Infant and preschooler qualified. Although I teach both areas, and since then i feel like my calling is our Babies through to Toddlers as I feel like I have helped to kick start their swimming journey in the right direction and given them the correct tools and knowledge so they can further their journey.

Hi everyone my name is Kay
I am the owner of Family Aquatics Swim School.
When we lived in England I used to thoroughly enjoyed devoting my time taking Lorna across the country attending many Competitive Swim Meets.
When Lorna fell pregnant in 2016, this is when I had the idea of opening up a Swim School as a small side hustle as I want to offer other parents a place to start their children’s Swimming Journey and enjoy it as much as I did.
It took a few years to work out the ins and outs of opening my own business but back in 2020 Lorna and I final made it and opened Family Aquatics.
If you see me around please come and say hi
